A.S. Crotzer, of the firm Crotzer Bros., lumber and hardware, Lena.  Born Feb. 27, 1846, Clayton Co., Penn. (no such county, probably Clinton Co.).  In 1857, he came with his parents to Lena; engaged in farming until 1864, when he enlisted in Co. E, 92nd I.V.I., mounted; served as cavalry; continued till the close of the war; they were under Gen. Kilpatrick's command; they participated in the battle of Atlanta, Sherman's march to the sea.  Aiken, S.C., Wainsborough, Raleigh, N.C., Macon, Ga. and others; he then returned and continued farming and stock raising till 1873, whenhe commenced his present business; he is president of the Town
board of Trustees (reads Treasurers).  Married Miss Maggie Sechler, Nov. 15, 1877; she was born in Pennsylvania; they have one child, Mary.  Lutheran in religion; Republican in Politics.

A.H. Stahl of Lena, was married to Miss Catharine A. Crotzer Jan. 1, 1846; she was born in Clinton County, Penn.  He was born Feb. 27, 1821, in Perry Co., Penn.; in 1859 he came to Ogle Co., Ill.; in 1863, he cme to Lena; they had 10 children.

S.J. Best, physician and surgeon, Freeport; He pursued his medical studies in the city of Philadelphia, Pa., under the preceptorship of his uncle, Dr. A.J. Crotzer and graduated at Jefferson Medical College in 1860.
