My research begins in North Carolina with David Crotser and Eve Eller. It is believed that both were born in the early 1780’s. On June 2, 1795, David and Eve were married in Crain Creek, Rowan County, North Carolina. Below is a copy of their marriage license.

We David Crotzer and John Melcher Eller
of Rowan County are held & formely bound unto
Richard D. Spaight Esq. governor __ in
the Sum of five hundred pounds but to be void on
condition that their appears hereafter no lawful
grounds to obstruct a marriage to be celebrated
between said David Crotzer & Eve Eller
by virtue of a license __ing equal __ with
their presence otherwise to remain in full
force and virtue according to __ witness our
hands & Seals this 2nd Day of June 1795
